The New Moon in Aquarius brings the breeze of change as it ushers in the Chinese New Year of the Wood Snake. Positively aspected to Jupiter, there is much scope for bold new beginnings, and fresh energy for 2025.

The new moon is the beginning of a new lunar cycle, and this is also Lunar New Year. Aquarius is the rebel, ruled by Uranus who loves to break the rules. It is time to throw off the shackles of whatever is weighing you down. Every problem has a solution. The answer is contained within the question. Let your mind break free from limited thinking, and surprise yourself with ground-breaking ideas. There are limitless possibilities in every moment.

On February 1st, three days after the new moon, the Celtic festival of Imbolc is celebrated. This is the festival of early spring, marking the time when the frost and snow begin to melt and the sun warms a little, as streams begin to flow. Green shoots are seen pushing up through the earth, as new life returns after the winter. Goddess Brigid is honoured, the triple goddess of healing springs, the sacred flame, and the fertile earth. This a time of hope and the magic of new beginnings.

We are entering the Year of Snake, element Wood. This is a year of wisdom, creativity, introspection, and continued growth. The snake is a symbol of healing power in many ancient cultures. In Egypt, Wadjet is the sacred Cobra Goddess who protects the head of the pharaoh. The cobra goddesses were guardians of powerful protection, mystical knowledge and healing. The Uraeus was the serpent of sacred wisdom, related to the kundalini, or sleeping serpent power contained within muladhara, the root chakra. Through each life initiation, the serpent power begins to rise up through the chakras along the spine, known as a kundalini awakening.

The Year of the Snake brings the right opportunities for inner growth, and increased knowledge and wisdom.

As the Sun and Moon conjoin in the sign of Aquarius, they are conjunct Mercury and Pluto, together at the beginning of this sign. We are getting a taste of the era of Pluto in Aquarius, and what it will mean for humanity and the earth. With Mercury here, the mind can probe deeply into the mysteries of life, the psyche and what lies beneath. You may experience deep realisations, and receive keys to unlock complex problems. The problems of Pluto in Aquarius are the problems of humanity – the issues we need to solve collectively so that there is fairness and justice for all.

Which world issues are close to your heart? Which community problems do you have some insight into? These are the areas where you could be of service. It is easy to get involved even in small ways, to lend community support at some level, join an organisation, or even start your own enterprise. You may receive some guidance as to how to progress with this at this time. Even the smallest act of kindness can have magnified results.

The new moon is making a trine aspect to Jupiter in Gemini. This brings a much-needed sense of optimism, and increased scope for abundance and new opportunities. Success comes through circulating, communicating and getting your message out there. Jupiter brings wisdom, and increased knowledge on the areas of life in question. This is a great time to learn new things, begin a new course of study; and also to share what you have learned. Connections made around the new moon can yield beneficial results.

In aspect to the New Moon in Aquarius – Lunar New Year this is a positive sign for the year ahead. Allow the breeze of change to sweep through you, cleanse yourself of the old, and open to new possibilities. There are many things you have never even imagined – allow yourself to embrace the unknown, and believe in your power to create.

Aquarius is the water bearer for all humanity.

What is your gift? What is your contribution?

New Moon Blessings
