New Moon in Taurus – Planting the Seeds of a New Cycle



The New Moon in Taurus comes with some very positive aspects, and serves as a powerful pause and release point to lay the foundations for the next chapter of your journey. The Sun and Moon in earthy Taurus are making beneficial aspects to Mars and Neptune, bringing an active quality to this new moon, and also access to higher guidance. However, we also have a challenging T-square configuration in the sky which will keep you on your toes.


We now have five planets in Taurus, plus the North Node, so the qualities of this sign are very prominent. Taurus is fixed earth, representing strength and stability, hard work, patience, persistence, and perseverance. It also represents Mother Earth, connection to nature, and the ability to manifest. We manifest by connecting to the earth element and the planet we live on. This is how we are able to connect to higher frequencies. We manifest by connecting to the Divine flow, and not by imposing our will onto reality.


Taurus is ruled by Venus, and allows us to experience the joy of being alive by experiencing life through the senses. The trap of Taurus is thinking that body consciousness is all there is. Interestingly, a Torus is the shape of the human energy field when fully expanded. This mystical sign calls us to awaken fully in the body, and open the inner senses to truly perceive reality as it is.


The new moon is a pause and reset point in the monthly cycle. This is a time to go within, meditate, and reflect. The new moon in Taurus is an ideal time to manifest, by focusing on what you want to bring into your life, and giving thanks. Focus on planting the seeds of a new cycle, building, growing, and laying the foundations. This is the beginning of a new 27 month cycle, so think carefully about what you are choosing to create.


The Sun and Moon are making a beautiful sextile to Mars in the last degree of Cancer. This brings an opportunity for action, and taking a step towards your new goals. Since Mars has been in Cancer, you may have witnessed the masculine being more in touch with his feelings, and a drive towards nurturing, caring and protecting. The day after the new moon Mars enters Leo, where he will feel more at home, and the masculine energy will be flamboyant and outgoing once more. This is good for all creative endeavours, and heart-centred work.


The Sun and Moon make another sextile to Neptune in late Pisces, opening up a connection with higher spiritual guidance as you call in your manifestations. Pay attention to your intuition, dreams and signs. You may be shown a way that you had not considered before. You may also find the ability see people with more compassion, and see through obstructive behaviour to the truth. Everyone is dealing with their burdens; everyone wants to be recognised, heard and seen.


The new moon makes another major aspect, a trine to Pluto at 0° Aquarius. This is a positive, flowing aspect between the Sun, Moon and Pluto, which is about to retrograde back into Capricorn. This is an ideal time for a retrospective, of what you feel has been blocking you, and the obstacles life has presented you with. What is the soul reason for these? It may not be easy to see, but there is some learning you and others are getting from these circumstances. Pluto asks us to look at how we use our power, and to embrace and claim the positive power within us. When you don’t own your power, others can use their power over you. We have had a taste of Pluto in Aquarius, and how it could be when we work together in conscious community. Pluto moves back into Capricorn on 11 June, where he will stay until January. This will be a time for completing unfinished business, and wrapping up the Pluto in Capricorn era.


Mars is coming into direct opposition with Pluto, which can signify confronting issues of power head on. This is a challenging aspect, made more intense by a square to Jupiter, which has newly entered Taurus. This T-square aspect can make for dramatic scenarios and things being blown out of proportion. These planets will be at 0° of the fixed signs, which makes for stubborn and intractable interactions. Jupiter highlights the wisdom needed to see through apparent conflict. This aspect pattern has been building for the past week, and the energy will begin to lift by the end of May.


Jupiter, the Great Benefic, has entered Taurus, magnifying the qualities of this sign for the next year. Jupiter is a huge planet which has an expansive effect. Whilst moving through Aries, the general pace has been fiery and frenetic, as the qualities of action, initiation and warriorship have been intensified. Now we can relax a little, as we land in the vibrant earth of Taurus, and the focus will be on growing and building the seeds of inspiration we have germinated. Expect to see more focus on earth conscious living, and natural health and healing. Taurus is about bringing heaven to earth, and being fully present in the physical world.
